How to Boost Your Sales in Your TikTok Shop

It seems as though we spend most of our lives on social media these days; and this feeling is doubly true for marketing professionals. Since social media began, businesses have been able to promote their brand to their audiences. In recent years, however, you’re able to do much more. In fact, on TikTok, you can even sell products through your TikTok shop.

In today’s blog, let’s discuss what TikTok Shop is and how you can effectively boost sales through it.

What Is TikTok Shop?

TikTok Shop is a recent ecommerce feature of TikTok that allows users to shop or sell products directly from the app. When you create a seller account and set up a seller profile under your brand, you can list products, launch them through TikTok, and then promote your TikTok shop through your videos. You will have to list yourself as an individual or business, and in most cases if this is a part of your brand, you will list yourself as a business.

How To Boost Sales In Your TikTok Shop

So you’ve set yourself up with a TikTok shop! The next step is, as usual, getting customers to buy your products. Here are a few tips to help boost your sales on TikTok.

Partner With Affiliates

In addition to setting up your shop, you can also appoint affiliates who can promote and sell your products for you. TikTok is a hotbed for influencers and creators. Whether you’re looking for a micro influencer, a macro influencer, or someone in between, chances are they’re probably on TikTok. This is especially true if you’re marketing to millennials or Gen Z.

In your selling center, you can set up affiliates. These affiliates will sell and promote your products and receive monetization every time their affiliate link is used. If you partner with influencers popular with your audience, this is a great way to boost your sales.

Find Influencers in the Creator Marketplace

Speaking of affiliates and influencers: don’t spend all of your time in the seller portion of TikTok. That’s an easy way to find yourself in an echo chamber. Instead, check out the Creator Marketplace and look for influencers who might have an interest in your product. For instance, if you’ve created software for artists, look for artists who create digital art. Remember, influencers are customers with popular social media accounts. Look for an influencer who fits your target audience, and chances are your target audience follows them.

Follow the Trends

Content creators are also the ones setting the trends on TikTok. They create the latest memes or video formats that quickly go viral. By staying up to date on the creator marketplace, you can find all the latest trends and get inspiration for your own ads. What kind of videos perform the best with your target audience? Is there a way that you can create a fun video about your product with that format? Work it into your strategy!

Use the Right Categories

Make sure your products fall under the correct categories in TikTok Shop. Some of those categories include:

  • Beauty & Cosmetics
  • Electronics
  • Fashion Accessories
  • Food & Beverage
  • Furniture
  • Study Courses
  • Travel

These categories help your customers find what they’re looking for. Consider carefully what makes the most sense for your product and list it accordingly. If you find that customers aren’t flocking to your product, maybe it’s in the wrong category.

List With Competitive Prices

Pricing can always be tricky. If you list your product for too much, it risks being overlooked for cheaper competitors. If you make it too cheap, you won’t make the profit that you need and risk your product seeming cheaply made. However, on TikTok, competitive prices tend to be more successful. TikTok shoppers make quick decisions on whether or not to buy a product, and the price is one of the things they’ll look at first. The more competitive your prices, and the more value your product offers, the more sales you’re likely to make.

Start Holiday Promotions Early

The holidays are the biggest time of year for TikTok sellers, as with sellers pretty much anywhere else. You’ll likely make the most money during the holidays, but make sure you start planning early: very early. Start planning your campaigns in August so that you’re ready to start teasing out promotions by autumn. Optimize your shop, research the competition and the best types of videos to promote your content. Look for influencers that might work for you and reach out to them. The closer you come to the holidays, you can wow your audience with your holiday offerings.
